James W. Cornell
 James W. Cornell is President of Praxiis Business Advisors. Since 1980, Jim has advised clients with revenue from $1 million to $4 billion in organizational development, management, marketing, due diligence, negotiations, business transfers, capital transactions, business valuations, turnaround of troubled operations and companies, security, and government contracts . He and the firm also provide Business Coaching and Mentoring to entrepreneurial start-ups and growth stage ventures. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business, Management and Economics, and a Master of Business Administration from SUNY Empire State College. He has been awarded the professional credentials of Certified Business Counselor, Certified Turnaround Professional, Certified in Mergers & Acquisitions, Certified Protection Professional, Certified Business Appraiser, and Certified Review Appraiser.
He is a member of the board of the Alliance of Merger & Acquisition Advisors, a Governor of the Federation Board of Governors of SUNY Empire State College where he is also a faculty member for the FORUM Management program, a member of the Turnaround Management Association, a member of the Institute of Certified Business Counselors and member of the Institute of Business Appraisers.
As a senior executive for over 20 years, Jim leverages experience in P&L management, business/organizational development, and strategic planning to increase revenue, profit and performance in startup, turnaround and mature industry environments. He is a transaction-oriented leader who understands the art of the deal, strategically assesses situations and creates tangible value for companies and clients. He evaluates troubled organizations, identifies issues and develops solid solutions to reverse loss and achieve sustainable, profitable growth. He is skilled at analyzing troubled companies, acquisitions & divestitures, managing performance of portfolio companies, developing and implementing financial and operational restructuring plans for troubled firms, and has outstanding organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
He has authored numerous works, including Ten Commandments of a Turnaround, Developing and Managing High Performance Security Organizations, Writing a Killer Business Plan That Actually Works!, and has recently completed a new book, Entrepreneur-Rx: How to Diagnose and Heal Your Troubled Company. Jim consults and speaks frequently on topics such as Turnaround Management, Performance Improvement, Value Creation & Growth, M&A, Business Planning, Family Businesses, Exit Planning and Strategy, Succession Planning, Government Contracting and related topics.
