President's Message March 2014Last month I wrote an article entitled Right Place, Right Time which presented a compelling case for state of our market. This month I want to present to you an overview of the exit planning process and EPI’s current point of view. First, exit planning is a process; NOT an event. It’s a way of running your business that maximizes its value and provides a means to achieving owner’s personal and financial goals; if they have any. Discover Fort Worth - Fort Worth StockyardsThe Fort Worth Stockyards is a historic district that is located in Fort Worth, Texas, north of the central business district. The 98-acre (40 ha) district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as Fort Worth Stockyards Historic District in 1976. They are a former livestock market which operated under various owners from 1866. The arrival of railroads in 1876 made the area a very important livestock center. Fort Worth Union Stockyards opened for business on January 19, 1890, covering 206 acres. On February 7, the Fort Worth Dressed Meat and Packing Company was founded. This facility was operated without profit until purchased by G. W. Simpson of Boston.Read more...

Please be sure to complete all 6 sections of this application. All candidates must meet the following standards to be considered for membership in EPI.
- If joining as a Candidate member, you must intend to take the CEPA program and exam within 12 months.
- Section 1: Applicant Information - Please complete all the requested information and note what address you would like all EPI and CEPA related correspondence mailed to.
- Section 2 : Membership Level - Please select your desired membership level.
- Section 3: Payment - Please include payment information so we may promptly process your application.
- Section 4: Higher Academic Education - Please provide us with your educational information or submit additional education and/or professional experience to meet the program requirements. Note: A bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a qualifying institution, is required to take the Certified Exit Planning Advisor program. If you do not have a bachelor's degree, please indicate "no degree." Applicants without a qualifying degree must submit additional professional work experience to qualify to take the CEPA program. Two years of relevant professional experience may be substituted for each year of required undergraduate studies.
- Section 5: Employment Experience - Please note that membership is limited to candidates that have five years or more of full-time or equivalent experience working directly with business owners as a financial advisor, attorney, CPA, business broker, investment banker, commercial lender, valuation advisor, estate planner, insurance professional, business consultant or a similar professional capacity.
- Section 6: EPI Code of Ethics & Professional Standards and Application Attestation - Please indicate your pledge to adhere to the EPI Code of Ethics and Professional Standards and sign the Application Attestation to fulfill program requirements.
Accountants/CPAs - receive 32.5 hours of CPE credit.
Certified Valuation Analysts - Receive 32.5 hours of CPE credit.
Accredited Valuation Analysts - receive 32.5 hours of CPE credit.
Master Analyst in Financial Forensics - receive 32.5 hours of CPE credit.
Certified Business Appraisers - receive 32.5 hours of CPE credit
CM&AAs - receive 24 hours of CPE credit.
CFP®s - receive 17 hours of CPE credit.
